Snake and Scorpion Wine, an Aperitif in Vietnam

NOTE: Photo Source: Wikipedia

How’s this for an aperitif? In Vietnam you can have Snake And Scorpion Wine — the more venomous the snake, the better. The wine, called ‘Ruou Thuoc’ is made with a lethal cobra and scorpion dipped in rice wine liquor. After a few months, the venom is dissolved.

This wine is being produced in a village in Vietnam and can be ordered online. The secret is the ethanol which cancels out the poison of the snake, and the sting of the scorpion. And they say that is wine with teeth.  How weird is your friend? Send him some Snake And Scorpion Wine as a gift if his weirdness meets the appropriate level.

Snake And Scorpion Wine is believed to have healthy benefits and is used to treat lumbago, rheumatism and back pain, among others. It is also said to be a natural aphrodisiac. But if it’s not typical of your culture, we don’t recommend this for Valentine’s day. If you are open to thousands of years old ancient beliefs, well you may adhere to that which says this wine enhances virility.

There are over 100 variations of this wine using different wildlife. Would you like to know more about this and the options available? Go here.
